Tip:   Model A Ford (ignition timing)
Fully retard the spark lever. Unscrew the timing pin located in the timing gear cover and insert the opposite end of the pin into the opening. Using the starting crank, turn the engine over very slowly while pushing firmly on the timing pin. When the timing pin slips into the recess in a camshaft gear stop. Remove the distributor cover, rotor and distributor. Loosen the cam locking screw just enough so that the cam can be turned. Replace the rotor and turn it until it is opposite number one contact. Remove the rotor from the cam and slightly turn the cam in a counterclockwise direction until the points begin to open, then securely tighten the cam locking screw. Replace the rotor and distributor cover and replace the timing pin into the threaded position and tighten. Tip:  Model A Ford (carburetor maintenance)
With the exception of the needle valve and idle adjustment all the carburetor adjustments are fixed. You are fairly limited as to maintenance. Dirt and water will have adverse effects on your model A's performance. Simple cleaning will ensure desired performance and reliability. To clean the carburetor remove the filter screen and thoroughly clean the screen by washing it with gasoline. Remove the screen by backing out the filter in the front of the float bowl and don't forget to replace the screen. It is always a good idea to remove the brass plug at the bottom of the carburetor and drain for a few seconds to allow any condensation/water to be removed.

From time to time I take a simple turkey baster, and attach a clear plastic hose to the end of it. Now don't laugh but I use it through the filler cap to remove sentiments from the bottom of the gas tank. You will be surprised at the crap that gets built up from the bottom of the tank. This seems to be a fairly easy solution rather than place replacing the model a gas tank.Resourced from; The Model A Ford construction, operation, and repair for the restorer. author: Victor W. Page
